COMMENTARIES
"This book was nothing like I expected. I thought it would read like a novel, but instead I felt like I was in Mike's home and he was telling me stories of his life and work. It read more like a conversation. It was so fascinating to hear these stories. I would have so many questions that I wanted to ask out loud, because I felt like I was hearing his voice. I also felt like my unasked questions were answered as he told his stories. I loved the honest point of view. I don't feel like Mike tried to embellish anything to make himself look better or make the stories "cooler" or more entertaining--which is what makes the book so great. The stories are real. He was genuine in the telling of them. I felt like I was friends with Mike (obviously, I'm on a first name basis with him, lol.) by the end of the book." Mary Jane Rogers, Washington, UT

Thank you so very much for writing this book."
Kevin Martindale, West Jordan, UT

"I saw you signing books at Costco in Boise Idaho the other day. And the title Agent Bishop caught my eye. After discovering the look was about an FBI agent 'moonlighting' as a Bishop my first thoughts turned to what horrible things this FBI agent probably said about the LDS religion and its 'authorities', beliefs, and ways of life. I'm embarrassed at my cynicism. After discovering your book was not at all what I thought, I was relieved. I felt the urge to send you a "thanks" for all you've done, your service (as an agent and bishop), and I wish you success and your family the best."  Jeri Olearain

"My dad picked up your book and had it signed at Costco. I was going through his book library and found your book. After starting to read I could not put your book down. I love investigative stories and situations. Over the Thanksgiving weekend we had a discussion with are tired detective about Erval LeBaron who he is on the LeBaron hit list and when I started to read about him in your book it was very interesting. Thank you for all the great stories and experiences you had with the FBI and being a bishop. I have a friend from the Portland area that I am going to send her your book to read. Her biological father had many run ins with the police and maybe you. He did threats thru the mail, extremist etc during the 70-80's. I know his first name is Ron. Thank you for sharing those great stories and thank you for your part in protecting our country. I firmly believe that Heavenly Father was watching over you and protecting you during your detective work. Thank you again for the great reading."  Lisa Whiteley

"Agent Bishop provides a unique insight on FBI investigations from Florida, Oregon, Utah and even Bolivia. Mikes detailed analysis and description of events is so vivid its almost painful. A captivating, informative, well written book." Ike Mortensen, Professional pilot

"Mike McPheter's book captures so many of the experiences I shared as an FBI Special Agent -- full of colorful characters, tragedies and triumphs, respect for great associates and life lessons learned along the way. In a down-to-earth, real-life, personal way, Mike's memories reflect the "Fidelity, Bravery and Integrity" of the people of the FBI. Thanks, Mike, for a job well done."  Alfred G. Gunn FBI 1968-1999

"You will not be able to "close" Mike's book once you begin to read it."  Claire FitzGerald

"McPheters accurately describes in his book his outstanding career as a Special Agent of the FBI, and as a remarkable, spiritual leader, as he served an unparalleled four times as a Mormon Bishop while employed at the same time with the FBI. As a personal friend of McPheters, and as a first-hand witness of his accomplishments, I can vouch for the fact that he carried out his FBI responsibilities and his spiritual, ecclesiastical duties with complete dedication of heart, mind and energy. McPheter's book makes for excellent and fascinating reading. I high recommend it."   Leon Fish, Special Agent FBI Retired

"Mike, your "one hour" talk program today was incredible."  Myrna Houston

"As an avid and voracious reader, I found your book, “Agent Bishop”, both entertaining and at the same time, informative. I marvel at the talent and ingenuity that you exhibit in keeping a level head while working with the dregs of society and at the same time, counseling youth and others in need of spiritual comfort! I wholeheartedly recommend your book to anyone in need of a good and uplifting read that will show the world that we do indeed have the “good guys” on our side." Lanny Cunningham

"I want to say I really like Agent Bishop. I like the adventurous spirit of it tied in with the gospel. I almost got to know some of your partners through the book. It has a unique perspective that I like a lot. The best part of it, though, is that it's a true story! Thanks for sharing your experiences." Orissa, age 15

"I just finished your book, Agent Bishop. Fantastic. I enjoyed it cover to cover. The elves were a little upset with me because I couldn't put your book down. Can hardly wait for your new book to come out."  Wayne S. Keys (Santa Claus)

"I just finished your book. I really enjoyed reading about the FBI from your perspective. What we see on TV and in the movies is so exaggerated it defies reality. It was also interesting to have some insight into the Mormon church." Donna Foley Mabry

"My first salute goes to your wife, Judy McPheters. Her dedication to her family is incredible. Mr. McPheters book was excellent! The book peaks your curiosity as well as draws you into the stories. The first night I read a hundred pages. I hope you keep writing."  Darryl Kirby

"I want to share an experience with you that I had the other day. I am a Tour Guide at the Church History Museum in SLC Utah. A man named Dave from Alabama came to the Museum and requested a tour. He was on a road trip while on leave from the Army, and was happy to see all that we had to offer him, so I took him through our main exibit, The Covenant Restored.

Since it is a Church History Museum we begin with a little religion, beginning with the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in these last days. From there we share our Religious values and unique Historical experiences that brought the Mormons to Utah. Halfway through the tour we walk into a chapel area where I told him we have no paid ministry, that although he is in the Army he could be a Sunday School teacher or even the Bishop of a congregation while off duty He lit right up and said “I know like Agent Bishop”. I wasn’t sure what he was talking about then he told me about this book he had read, his “Favorite Book!”

Dave told me how he and a friend will give each other two presents each year for their birthday's, when he saw that one of his was a book called “Agent Bishop” he called his friend and said, “I'm not reading that!” He explained to me how he is not a big reader, in fact most of it was done while he is sitting on the seat of a toilet. However his friend convinced him to read it and it quickly became his favorite book. He shared with me a story in your book how you were coming out of a Sunday service and you saw someone stealing something from a Truck and chased him down. Since that time he has a couple of Mormon's in the Platoon (Who are “good to have around to be the designated drivers”), that he has shared the book with and it is still being passed around."  Dave Robinson
